What is central serous chorioretinopathy?

Central Serous Chorioretinopathy

Central serous retinopathy is a condition where fluid builds up under the retina, causing a small area of the retina to detach. This affects the macula and may cause blurry or distorted vision. This can be caused by numerous factors such as stress and high cortisol levels, steroid medications, and high blood pressure and other vascular conditions.

Treatment

Central serous retinopathy will usually resolve on its own within 3-6 months, without treatment. Medication adjustments may need to be made, and laser or photodynamic therapy may be required for persistent or recurrent cases.
